2004 Conference Update Note: change of dates to 6th and 7th October 2004 Report from Rebecca Vaughan, EGSA, Belfast, Convenor of the conference planning group The 2004 conference planning group is forging ahead with its plans. We are delighted to have booked the Armagh City Hotel and Conference Centre in Armagh, for Wednesday and Thursday the 6th and 7th October 2004. Please note the change of dates. We listened to feedback from 2003 delegates about the very successful conference in Chester. One issue mentioned frequently was accommodation, and in the light of this, we have changed our venue. The Armagh City is a new hotel, has state of the art conference and leisure facilities including a swimming pool, and a range of other accommodation is also available locally. Elegant and historic Armagh is known as the “City of Saints and Scholars” and is a small city in a rural location, an easy ride from Belfast and both Belfast airports.* You can fly to Belfast with a range of economy airlines from most major UK airports in under an hour, for less than most UK rail fares, so your journey will be much quicker and easier than you might think. The conference itself is taking shape and we are working hard to secure an interesting range of speakers and workshops with plenty of opportunities for networking and “Learning from Each Other”. *Editor’s Note: On receiving Rebecca’s report, I did a quick internet check of the current scheduled airlines. There are flights to either Belfast City or Belfast International from Aberdeen, Birmingham, Blackpool, Bristol, Cardiff, Cork, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds/Bradford, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Southampton, Teesside and from all the London Airports (City, Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton and Stansted). Getting to Belfast is really easy so put the date in your diary NOW. |
