The UACE Student Support Network

The University Association for Continuing Education (UACE) has in the last year created the UACE Student Support Network. One of the joint Co-ordinators is Melissa Wride of the University of Sunderland who is a long-time NAEGA member. Melissa writes:

As part of the UACE Student Support Network ongoing activities, Pauline McManus (University of Warwick) is repeating the part-time student support workshop in London in November and we are organising a day conference on financial support for P/T students in HE in Oxford in December. The details are as follows:

The aim of this seminar is to consider good practice for all staff who are involved in supporting part time adult students, especially at the start of their academic career. In particular we will discuss students' expectations and concerns about the student role, and how you can contribute to "a good start" and ongoing development.

We welcome attendance from the following people:

  • Secretarial and clerical staff
  • Administrators
  • Library staff
  • Personal tutors
  • Student support staff
  • Ancillary staff
