Posted: 7 February 2008

The LSC has recently announced that as part of the run up to the introduction of a new "Adult Advancement and Careers Service" across England in 2010, there will be new two year contracts from 2008 to 2010 to maintain the nextstep service and to pilot aspects of the new adult careers service.

The current nextstep contracts end on 31st July 2008 when the existing 47 contracts will be replaced by 10 (1 per region, except in the north west where there will be a separate one for Manchester).

Details of the tendering process for these new regional prime contractors are contained in the LSC's letter.

NAEGA will continue to make the case for a comprehensive and accessible service for adults of high quality advice and guidance and will apply this criteria to its comments on the specifications for the new service and the interim arrangements once these are published.
