LSIS has released their report on the third of a series of four seminars on the leadership and management of change in public services. The report, entitled Innovation, efficiency and effectiveness — promoting change through new forms of engagement, summarises the presentations and discussion.

The seminar aimed to:

  • hear diverse perspectives on increasing accountability to citizens and customers;
  • consider the potential of technology to promote innovation, efficiency and effectiveness; and
  • discuss the potential applications and lessons for leadership and professional practice in the learning and skills sector.

It featured inputs from Hilary Cottam, Principal Partner, Participle and member of the Public Service 2020 Commission; Tom Steinberg, Founder and Director of MySociety; Jane Williams, Executive Director of Further Education, Skills and Regeneration, Becta; and Matt Atkinson, Principal and Chief Executive, City of Bath College. Polly Toynbee chaired the seminar. The final seminar in this series will take place later this month.
