New skills development qualifications for business support

Posted: 30 September 2010

Two new qualifications in business support have recently been launched, as reported in the Skills Funding Agency's Update newsletter:

The Level 4 Certificate in Providing Skills Advice to Business is suitable for those in skills advisory roles offering advice to employers on how skills development can benefit their business and helping in the selection of provision. It is envisaged that this would be particularly relevant for those in a training provider role.

The Level 4 Diploma in Brokering Skills Advice to Business is for those working within a broader employer engagement agenda in organisations such as Business Link and Sector Skills Councils. Staff offering impartial advice and support across a wide range of skills solutions will find the content of this qualification useful.

Both qualifications have been designed to share units on the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF) to complement each other and make their achievement as flexible as possible. This means the Certificate can be counted towards acquiring the Diploma qualification.

At present, SFEDI are the awarding body offering and assessing these qualifications, which are practical and work focused. More information can be found on the SFEDI awards website.
